It’s been said that modern Contemporary Christian music is too happy. Or too sappy. Or perhaps too clappy? I don’t know. In any case, CCM has been heavily criticized since its inception in the 1970s.

What’s certain is that there is one kind of song notably missing from the catalog of Christian music…
